The number of COVID-19 cases across the Mid-South has increased in Shelby County, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas since May 26, 2024. The Shelby County Health Department reported 89 new cases over a 7-day period, bringing total to 325,691 cases and 3,823 deaths in the county since the start of the pandemic. The state of Tennessee has reported a total of 2,738,341 cases and 30,825 deaths since the week ending May 25, 2024, with daily data reports shifting from daily numbers to weekly data updates. Mississippi is seeing increasing cases of the COVID.-19 Omicron variant, which are now approaching 200 per day and trending upward. The Arkansas Department of Health reported that since the beginning of 2024, there have been 1,776 hospitalizations and 275 deaths. A limited number of free at-home test kits are available for pick-up at ADH Local Health Units across the state.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Shelby County Health Department reported 89 new cases over a 7-day period as of May 26, 2024. That makes a total of 325,691 cases and 3,823 deaths in the county since the beginning of the pandemic.

COVID-19 vaccinations and flu vaccinations are available at retail pharmacies and other health care providers throughout Shelby County. Vaccination providers are listed on the CDC’s Vaccines.gov website.

The state of Tennessee reports, as of the week ending May 25, 2024, a total of 2,738,341 cases and 30,825 deaths in the state since the start of the pandemic.
