GERMANTOWN, Tenn. - The FBI is helping track down the people responsible for a cyberattack that caused City of Germantown systems to be taken offline Friday.

The City of Germantown said the cyberattack was discovered just before 6 a.m. on February 2.

The cybersecurity malware system was immediately trigged to limit damage and the attack was contained, a spokesperson for the City of Germantown said.

City officials believe the cyberattack only impacted a "limited number of internal, on-site servers."

The City of Germantown said that they do not believe that data related to finance, utilities and payment information were compromised.

The city's fire and police services lines, along with the City's 911 call center, remain functional, though some city phone lines, with the exception of 911, are affected, the City of Germantown said.

City officials said that in the immediate future residents should call 901-754-7222 or *54 from your cell phone for non-emergency public safety services.

People can also call 901-754-1414 as an alternative.

The city's spokesperson said that the impact of the attack is "minimal" but issuing permits and responding to public records requests may be delayed.
