The woman, who was part of the altercation, claims she was confronted by a man who threw a piece of trash in her face and then attempted to remove him from the car. This led to a fight, which escalated and led to gunshots. The victim was taken to a nearby Wendy's and later released without charges being filed. The suspect is still in the hospital and no charges have been filed.

A man in Memphis became so enraged over an empty bag of chips in the parking lot of a popular restaurant that it led him to shooting another man, according to a woman that was a part of the altercation.
The woman, who spoke with Fox 13 Memphis, explained that her and her boyfriend arrived at Venice Kitchen in East Memphis to pick up a to-go order just after 7:00 PM on Tuesday. The boyfriend went inside the restaurant to grab their food, and while sitting in the car waiting for him to return, she claims she was confronted by a man who knocked on her window, grabbed a piece of trash sitting next to the vehicle, and threw it in her face.
"This all started over a piece of a paper chip trash bag," the woman said. "Are you the owner or something? Are you the litter police or something? I’m confused. He was nothing. Just a regular customer who eats here."
"You don’t aggravate and assault me for no reason. You don’t put your hand in my face for no reason and mush me with some trash off the floor that I did not drop," she continued.

The boyfriend came out of the restaurant and attempted to get the man away from the car, which then led to a fight breaking out. Shortly thereafter, witnesses told police that they heard gunshots and saw the victim limping away with a gun in his hand. The woman said that her boyfriend had somehow managed to get the gun away from the shooter.
"He didn’t shoot like ‘boom boom' as quickly. It was like a boom, it was delayed and then another one. My boyfriend held his chest like, ‘He shot me, like he really shot me,’" the woman explained.
She quickly drove her husband away and spotted an ambulance at a nearby Wendy's where he was taken to a hospital and later released.
The latest update on the suspect is that he is still in the hospital and no charges have been filed.
