Tenants say problems continue to pile up at Tunica apartment complex

'ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE': Because of mold inside apartments, buildings falling apart and huge potholes, tenants at a Tunica apartment complex said problems continue to pile up. Tenants at Academy Estates in Tunica, Mississippi, have complained about problems at their apartment complex. They are demanding answers from management about their living conditions. The tenants, who did not want to be identified, have been dealing with problems for anywhere from six months to over a year. They have put in several maintenance requests to the property manager to resolve their issues, including a missing staircase and a pest problem. FOX13 reached out to the corporate office about the living conditions but did not receive a response.

TUNICA, Miss. - Tenants said problems continue to pile up at a Tunica apartment complex.

They said they want answers from management about their living conditions at Academy Estates.

“It’s not just only the inside, look at the outside. I don’t even want to have visitors come here,” said a tenant.

Tenants we spoke with didn’t want to be on camera because they’re afraid of being evicted.

But they told FOX13 they've been dealing with problems anywhere from six months to more than a year.

They said they've put in several maintenance requests to the property manager to get their problems fixed, including this staircase.

One of several missing steps.

“We pay our rent faithfully," a tenant said. "We are never late or anything. We pay our rent faithfully, but when it’s time to fix something in our apartment, they never want to get it done."

Another said her unit has a pest problem.

“I’m constantly buying mouse traps, raid for roaches. It’s horrible. Just absolutely horrible," said a tenant.

FOX13 went to the property manager's office for answers but did not get a response.

“They really need to stand up and fix this place," a tenant said. "It can be better. We had better landlords. It’s not fair. It’s not fair to us.”

FOX13 reached out to the corporate office about the living conditions but did not hear back.
