Arkansas Soybean Harvest Close to Finish, Mississippi River at Memphis Shrinks Again

Arkansas Soybean Harvest Close to Finish, Mississippi River at Memphis Shrinks Again Farms Arkansas's soybean harvest is nearly finished, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Crop Progress Report. Soybeans are 87 percent done and cotton is 63 percent finished, well ahead of the five-year average of 69 percent. Cotton's five-time average is 53 percent. The weather also helped move peanuts to 34 percent harvested, but still behind the five year average of 38 percent. Concerns about a peanut processing facility in Jonesboro, Arkansas, may have contributed to this slower harvest due to uncertainty about its operation. Zachary Treadway, extension cotton and peanut agronomist for UADA, expects another large jump in next week's report due to a positive outlook for the cotton crop.
