October 24th Celebration of United Nations Day in Orange Mound in Memphis, Launch of Tom Mboya District via The African Cultural Embassy fight against White Supremacy, Racism & Black on Black Racism
October 24th Celebration of United Nations Day in Orange Mound in Memphis, Launch of Tom Mboya District via The African Cultural Embassy fight against White Supremacy, Racism & Black on Black Racism The African Cultural Embassy is challenging the Culture of Memphis White Supremacy, Racism and Black on Black Racism practiced in Memphis. The group accuses the University of Memphis of using state tax dollars to enforce white supremacy, cultural gatekeeping, and erasing a global cinematic milestone. The film, "The Contemporary Gladiator," was shot by its own alumnus, Anthony "Amp" Elmore Sr. who attended the university and independently financed and directed some scenes of the film on the Memphis State campus. While the city of Memphis and the University have attempted to erase this film from history, the Elmore family remains unbroken. The omission of a Black-produced, internationally dubbed film off historical timelines is seen as a form of cultural discrimination. The University ofMemphis benefits from its high Black enrollment and uses these diversity metrics to secure state funding, grants, and cultural prestige. It also highlights a system where Black students are welcomed as consumers and are treated with their own administrative silence. The African Cultural embassy's entry into the United States Congressional Record Remarks establishes unassailable federal authority.
