MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police said they are looking for suspects after connecting two carjacking incidents, one taking place at the McDonald's located at 4642 Quince and another one at a South Memphis gas station.
Officers said that they responded to the first one Monday night shortly after 11 p.m. when a victim told them that he was waiting in the drive through lane with his girlfriend before four men approached the car. These men had guns and one of them pulled the victim out of the vehicle, punched him in the face and searched his pocket for car keys, police were told.
The second victim told police that suspects pulled her out of the vehicle before getting into the car. These suspects left in the 2017 Infiniti QX50 on Quince Road moving westbound, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).
Some kind of dark sedan followed them and there were about 10 people total that had guns while on the scene, police were told. One of the suspects had a tattoo his left eye, MPD said.
Medical evaluation was given to the first victim while on scene, according to MPD.
The second carjacking took place around 11:30 p.m. at the BP gas station in the 500 block of South Parkway East, where investigators said two suspects came out of a brown Infiniti and demanded a woman to handover her 2015 Nissan Altima.
When she refused, one of the suspects shot her. They then drove away from the scene in her car. The woman was taken to Regional One Health in critical condition.
Later, investigators said the brown Infiniti used by the suspects had been taken in the first carjacking.
More than a week later after the incidents, Memphis police found one of the suspects of the South Parkway carjacking following an interstate shooting that left four children under the age of 10 and a 30-year-old man critically injured. Police identified him as 21-year-old Kendrick Ray.
