Obviously, the most famous person to live at Graceland was Elvis Presley.

But Elvis was never alone. At various times after he purchased the mansion in 1957, he shared his home with his parents, Vernon Elvis Presley and Gladys Earlene Presley; his grandmother, Minnie Mae Presley, whom Elvis called "Dodger"; wife, Priscilla; his daughter, Lisa Marie; and his aunt, Delta Mae Presley Biggs, Vernon's sister.

Elvis, 42, died on Aug. 16, 1977. Vernon Presley remained at the mansion until his death almost two years later, on June 26, 1979, at 63. Also remaining at Graceland was Minnie Mae Presley, Vernon's mother, who died May 8, 1980, at 90.

That left one remaining resident: Elvis' aunt, Delta Mae Presley Biggs, Vernon's sister. "Aunt Delta" was the only Presley family member living in the house when Graceland opened for tours in 1982. She mostly stayed in a bedroom near the kitchen, which was off-limits to tourists at the time. (This is why the "classic Southern cooking" restaurant at The Guest House at Graceland, the hotel near the mansion, is called "Delta's Kitchen.")

A mostly unnoticed presence, Aunt Delta remained at the mansion until her death on July 29, 1993, at the age of 74. She was the last resident of Graceland, where she had lived since the death of her husband in 1966. According to a story in The Commercial Appeal, she was "a private person who did not mix with the visitors who toured the mansion." She did not have any children, but was accompanied in her later years by her dog, Edmond, a Pomeranian.
