Fight outside Downtown Memphis bar leads to gunfire, seriously injuring a man, police say
DOWNTOWN SHOOTING: Officers responded to a shooting early Friday morning at Main Street and Gayoso Avenue, police said. A fight outside a Downtown Memphis bar led to gunfire, which seriously injured a man. The incident occurred about 2:15 a.m. outside Blind Bear on South Main Street near Gayoso Avenue. Memphis Police (MPD) have arrested a man in connection to the shooting. The man who was shot said the fight started after another man was staring at him inside the bar. He tried to leave the bar when the other man followed him outside, leading to the second man to fire a shot, which hit the first man in the stomach. The shooter then fled in a pickup truck, which was later found with a black handgun on the driver's seat. Police obtained surveillance footage showing a man firing a shot and hitting another man outside the bar, which also contained a shell casing.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A fight outside of a Downtown Memphis bar early Friday led to gunfire that seriously injured a man, police said.
Memphis Police (MPD) said they had arrested a man in connection to the shooting.
The gunfire was reported about 2:15 a.m. outside Blind Bear on South Main Street near Gayoso Avenue.
The man who was shot told police that it all started after another man was staring at him inside the bar.
When the first man left to walk his girlfriend to the car, the other man and three or four other men followed him outside the bar, MPD said. A fight ensued, and the first man told police that he was hit in the head with a chair at one point.
The man told MPD that he tried to walk away but the other man followed him, leading to the second man to pull out a gun and fire a shot. The gunfire hit the first man in the stomach, police said.
That man was later found lying on the ground in front of Blind Bear, police said.
The man who fired the shot, police said, then took off in a pickup truck.
MPD said that vehicle was seen speeding off toward Beale Street. The man's truck was later found by officers to have a black handgun laying on the driver's seat.
Police investigators obtained surveillance footage from nearby businesses showing a man firing a shot and hitting another man. They also found a shell casing outside the bar.
In another police report, the man who drove off in a truck said that he got into a fight with another man at Blind Bear. He said he was told by the man that he couldn't be at the bar.
He claimed that the other man punched him in the face before he took out his handgun and fired a shot, hitting him, police said. He also told MPD that the other man tried to reach for his weapon.
The man then drove off in his truck with his girlfriend and called 911 before he returned to the bar, where he told investigators that the other man shot at his vehicle, police said.
MPD said that the man then drove off to Beale Street to tell an officer what happened.
