MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A rideshare driver was shot during an attempted carjacking early Monday at Memphis International Airport, officials said.

An airport spokesman said that the shooting happened just after midnight Monday at the cell phone lot just inside the airport grounds.

The airport said that four men wearing masks went up to the rideshare driver before the shooting.

The men left in a light gray or white sedan, officials said.

The driver was taken to Regional One Health but airport officials did not have their condition.

Airport officials said they believe the shooting was an isolated incident as the investigation by the Memphis Airport Police Department and Memphis Police Department was ongoing.

"The safety of our employees, passengers and vendors is our top priority," the airport said in a statement.
